Mercedes-Benz World Part Two
Welcome back. Following on from Part One, I am still at Mercedes-World and I am on their wet straight.
Next Barry set the speed limiter to 20 mph and turned on the Electronic Stability Control, ESC and traction control. If am beginning to lose you please stay with me. ESC has been fitted as a standard safety feature to all cars since 2014. Here’s a handy link from the AA to fill your head with further info. I surfed around for a while but found this web page explanation to be my favourite. I hope it helps you: And if you go off after this and start looking to buy a new car! Sorry! Explaining ESC
I was beginning to understand about the modern day features of road safety assistance in vehicles. Once I was motoring along at 20 mph Barry ask me to brake as hard as I could. I learnt that with these functions switched on the car stopped with immediate response and control with all 4 wheels planted and straight. It was impressive and could save a pedestrians life for sure.
Then I took the same speed with the ESC off. The car took about 10 meters longer to stop. Next, I drove the car at 30 mph with no traction control and no ESC. When Barry indicated to stop with his arm going forward I had to swerve the car to the right as if I was avoiding a pedestrian jumping out at me. The car was much harder to stop and the back end of the car turned out. It got messy. Thanks for reading my blog today. This blog post has been big. It was a great experience I would recommend trying out new things like this. Thanks for being around. Bye for now. Happy and safe days to you and your friends and family.
