Safer Car Parking

“I am a car park nerd!”  My personal safety and a decent car park with a low rate of car crime are important to me. Here’s a couple of websites I use. I would love to hear your ideas on personal safety when motoring, as it’s a pretty big topic of discussion. Thank you.

Smart Driving This site is really useful. Park Mark for safer car parks around Britain. It’s not the best of sites. Therefore I am always looking for better sites.

Here’s are some of my car parking ideas for personal safety:

  1. Plan to go back to your car with a friend or a work colleague and then give the friend a lift back to their car. Then both drive away together. This us usually fun as you can race to the lights…just a bit, responsibly. This gives you both peace of mind that your cars have started up and, bonus, you get extra chatting time!

  2. Park up in sight of a payment meter and choose a well-lit area with CCTV ideally.

  3. Use your common sense and check in with your gut feelings. If it’s weird or creepy then park somewhere else. Give your feedback to organisations, car parks and friends too.

  4. Reverse into your parking space.

  5. Take all your personal correspondence with you and then sling all personal belongings, such as books and stuff that cars fill up with into the boot. I hope you found this article helpful and please leave any comments about any good or bad car parks you have used. Have a safe and fun motoring week. Spread the news.
